Alcove Shelves Wandsworth

Claire and Doug had just finished their kitchen extension in Tooting and needed shelves and cupboards to store toys, books and audiovisual equipment. The extension had required two steels so there were in total, seven different facing surfaces to cover. You can see from some of the many options we looked at that both Exploit Space and our client worked hard to get to a design which unified the space and disguised some of the structural elements.  This is a strong, uncompromising design but is surrounded by enough light and space to settle into the background.

What the client said about is on Rated People…

“Jon was brilliant to work with. He listened to our requirements ( fiddly spaces, equipment housing etc) and advised us how to maximize the space available. His design ideas were refreshing and motivating. He was very generous with his iterations of design concepts resulting in the finished structure which we are delighted with and which certainly provides a “wow” factor we were looking for. Jon’s initial quote and final invoice were all within the budget set and the installation met the timing we had agreed. We have been using the shelving for about a month now and are very happy with it.”

Why use Exploit Space…

We are passionate about proportion, we build a complete 3D model of your space and will only propose designs which we feel sit well in the room. Your local carpenter will never be able to provide this level of service. A sense of proportion is something you are born with, just look at our portfolio, every piece sits well in its space, this isn’t luck, this isn’t clever photography. This is talent, this is instinct, this is a lifetime of studying art and design.

Why some alcove cupboards don’t look right…

A common mistake made local tradesmen is to allow the cupboard to cover parts of the chimney breast and the end result is a cupboard which looks squat and breaks up the lines of the room.  We do what looks good and not what is easy.

Panel doors where the stiles and rails are the same width will invariably look squat. Any fitted furniture should come with a lifetime guarantee: A lifetime  is s long time to be looking at seyong which has been badly designed.
